Notarize.co.ke exists because a Kenyan in Doha should not have to buy a plane ticket to swear an affidavit. We are a distributed chamber of Advocates of the High Court of Kenya, conducting notarial acts over a recorded video session and returning a digitally sealed document the same day.
Every notary who takes a session is an active Advocate of the High Court of Kenya holding a current practising certificate. No paralegals, no agents, no intermediaries.
Before an advocate can accept a single matter, we confirm their standing against the Law Society of Kenya roll. Verification is repeated at each practising-certificate cycle.
Each matter carries an event log from intake through to the sealed output — who uploaded what, who reviewed it, who administered the oath, and when. Produced on request for a registry or court challenge.

The legal basis
A notarial act requires a qualified notary to satisfy themselves as to the identity of the signer, to witness the execution, and to attest to it under their seal. Nothing in that sequence requires the parties to share a room — it requires the notary to be present, attentive, and able to verify.
Our sessions are conducted live by video, with identity verified against a government-issued document, the execution witnessed in real time, and the attestation applied under the advocate's digital seal. The framework we work within is the Advocates Act (Cap. 16), the Notaries Public Act (Cap. 17), and the electronic signature and electronic record provisions of the Kenya Information and Communications Act.
A small number of instruments still call for wet ink — most notably wills and certain instruments a specific foreign registry insists on. We say so up front rather than after you have paid. See our FAQ and Security & Legality for the detail.
We onboard a small number of advocates each month rather than opening the roll to volume. Each applicant is verified against the LSK roll, briefed on our intake and evidence standards, and shadowed before taking matters independently. Advocates set their own availability, and you choose your notary when you book.
